In the smoke shop world products made for women are dramatically under represented. Most products today are designed for 17 year old boys…inexpensive, functional, easy to hide…but the revolution is coming. Women want beauty, fashion and style in everything they do. Women do not just smoke…they embrace it as a lifestyle. Our little startup company is trying to bring that concept to the world with annual collections, with each pipe representing a season (Persephone is the Greek god of the seasons). They are fun to use and fun to display.
The myth of Persephone..
was celebrated by ancient civilizations in the form of magic, dancing and rituals. Being a woman is cyclical and multidimensional. We create our own story as we travel in familiar paths. Persephone’s odyssey through the seasons is honored with pipes which embody happiness, longing, solitude and rebirth.
The Story begins in Spring…
through fertile fields of flowers, Persephone walks with her mother, Demeter. Animals bow to her beauty and kindness. It is also in Spring when Persephone is spotted by Hades. The King of the Underworld is taken by the energy and lightness she embodies. Qualities like that do not exist his world.
In the Summer…
Demeter rejoices in her time with Persephone by blessing even more life and abundance onto the earth. The happiness her daughter brings her knows no end. The earth receives their happiness in warmth and life which symbiotically is returned to the mother and daughter. They are oblivious to the fate that is laid out for the lovely Persephone.
In Fall…
Hades stalks Persephone. Whipping through the earth on his chariot, he takes Persephone, stealing her from her own world so that she may be his Queen. Demeter searches for Persephone and in her despair forbids the plants to produce fruit or flowers. Her sadness is unleashed upon the earth, the air cools and plants begin whither.
In the Winter…
Persephone is in the underworld. A plan is put into place by Zeus to bring Persephone back to her Mother, but Persephone is tricked by Hades. She eats pomegranite seeds which take control of her thoughts and keep her content in Hade’s dark embrace. Demeter is devastated and unleashes her sorrow upon the earth. The ground is covered in ice and the plants die. She subjects all people and beings into cold and darkness so that the world may feel her hollow suffering. Zeus fears for humanity and makes a deal with Hades that will allow Persephone to spend half the year with Demeter and the other half with Hades as the Queen of the Underworld.
It is Spring again…
Persephone is welcomed back by her Mother, Demeter. The land is granted fertility and light. Hades has kept his promise and Persephone is unbound from her duties as Underworld Queen. Here the story begins where it ends.
